If music can heal

Terrible news from Norway today. Two coordinated attacks from one madman on Friday 22nd of July has killed at least 87 persons. If music can heal, comfort or help in any way I offer these two arias about love, loss and longing.

Postscript 18th of July 2012:

The blog post above was written early in the morning on 23rd of July 2011.

A year has passed since these two terrible sequential terrorist attacks in Norway on 22nd of July 2011. What more is there to say that hasn’t been said better by others before? Words are hard to find even after one year after it happened. The lack of proper words were also clear in the original blog post above.

As the news came in during the night after I was devastated about the high number of deaths. I had to do something. I had to say something. Even if it were on this blog. These first reports that night said that at least 87 persons were killed that day. Later the total number of deaths were confirmed to be 77 persons. I haven’t changed the original blog post (except for categories and tags) because that’s exactly what were known at the time of writing.

The days, weeks and months that followed really showed the world the strengths of Norwegian society. It also showed that music really can heal, comfort and help in situations like this, but it can’t change the terrible facts: 77 lives are gone forever, mostly young people. That’s so hard to comprehend, even one year later.
