Giro d’Italia with Pavarotti (1): Denmark

This year’s Giro d’Italia, or just “The Giro”, started Saturday May 5th. The Giro is one the world’s best known bicycle races. It runs for two weeks all over Italy, but this year the race started in the Danish town of Herning. In fact the first three days of the race (May 5th – 7th) took place in Denmark this year. Today there’s a resting day, but tomorrow, on Wednesday May 9th, the race is again on Italian soil, where the race starts and finishes in Verona.

So let’s follow the Giro thru beautiful Italy, but let Pavarotti be your guide! Thru the Giro this blogger will follow the cyclists around Italy, not to comment on their cycling, but just to spread a little joy of Pavarotti along the way. The Pavarotti joy this blogger will be spreading will of course be geographically relevant to where the Giro is taking us at that particular day. Well, more or less!

As the Giro started in Denmark this year we start our journey in Denmark: Pavarotti sings “Nessun dorma” from Puccini’s Turandot in an outdoor concert in Copenhagen in the beginning of the 1990s. Enjoy!

So, will you take the journey of the year, the Giro d’Italia with Pavarotti? I’m sure you will!

Buon viaggio, cari amici miei!
