Pavarotti sings Verdi like it’s Verdi’s 199th birthday!

The great Italian opera composer Giuseppe Verdi celebrates his 199th birthday today! Verdi was born on 10 October 1813 and died on 27 January 1901.

Verdi was perhaps the most important composer for Pavarotti on both stage and on recordings.

Many of Verdi’s operas as well as the Verdi Requiem were part of Pavarotti’s core repertoire for years. Pavarotti also sang Verdi arias in most of his concerts.

To celebrate Verdi’s 199th birthday I present a performances from La Scala in Milano where Pavarotti sings in the duet “Ma lassù ci vedremo” from the opera Don Carlo with Daniela Dessì.

Enjoy! And do look forward to 10 October 2013 and Verdi’s 200th birthday celebrations! There is so much to look forward to! 🙂
