Pavarotti and Montserrat Caballé on record and stage

As I reported last year, the great Spanish soprano Montserrat Caballé suffered a small stroke and broke an arm late in October 2012. I haven’t found any news anywhere on how Caballé is recovering, so any information from you readers out there is really appreciated.

Montserrat Caballé’s 80th birthday is on April 12th this year. I guess that’s why Decca re-released the 2 CD Decca collection “Vissi d’arte: The magnificent voice of Montserrat Caballé” last month (also available on Decca download and streaming).

This collection includes highlights from Caballé’s Decca recordings, including all her six collaborations with Pavarotti:

This 2 CD collection is of course highly recommended, as are all the complete opera recordings of the six operas above, all available on Decca CD, download and streaming.

Pavarotti and Caballé collaborated also on stage, and to celebrate this, here are two videos (audio only) from two live performances: Luisa Miller (probably from La Scala, 1976) and Tosca (from San Francisco Opera, 1978). What wonderful duets!

All the best to the great Montserrat Caballé! Ti voglio bene, madama Caballé!
