My series of posts with Pavarotti arias A-Z continues. I’m so optimistic I will make it all the way to the letter Z, so let’s go!
Today is the letter H and for the first time in this project I’m struggling with finding an aria with Pavarotti. So far I’ve managed quite well but today I’m stuck! Anyhow, it’s not my fault I haven’t found any Pavarotti aria that begins with H. I have really tried! 🙂
Talking about fault: There’s a beautiful aria sung by Pavarotti about that. I’m of course thinking about “Non ho colpa” from the Mozart opera Idomeneo which in fact means “It’s not my fault”. So why not take this opportunity to listen to Pavarotti singing this beautiful aria?
The recording is taken from a live performance of this opera in London’s Royal Albert Hall in 1964. Pavarotti also sang in this opera at The Glyndebourne Festival the same year. On both occasions Pavarotti sang the role of Idamante and both occasions are available on CD.
In the 1980’s Pavarotti sang the role of Idomeneo, the father of Idamante, both on stage and on recording, but that’s another story.
And guess what! Look out for a new aria tomorrow! I will try my very best! 🙂
